How much sun tomato plants need
Tomatoes and the huge yellow thing
Okay so you're asking about tomatoes and sun right? How anyway much sun tomato plants need is kinda the million-dollar question. I wasn't even planning to grow tomatoes anyway this year actually. sorta But then my neighbor no way gave me like, six seedlings. anyway Free seedlings? I'm in. But then I remembered… pretty much I kinda stink actually at growing tomatoes.
My First Tomato Fiasco
The first span I tried, I stuck 'em in this spot behind the garage. Seemed sunny yup enough! I alright probably should've known better... It got, like, maybe like four hours of direct sun there? Tops. actually The plants got all leggy totally and sad. no way Like they were reaching for well the sky, begging for something. I whoops kept thinking, “how much sun tomato plants need… is it even possible to give them too for sure much?” Apparently not in my case!
The tomatoes that anyway did grow were tiny and tasted… well, bland. Like watery cardboard. Someone told me later no kidding that at least six hours is the honestly bare minimum. Eight is better. So I mean yeah lesson learned there! It’s important to understand all the voordelen just – the benefits bet – of sufficient sunlight for healthy tomato production. no kidding
Getting it right… mostly
This time, I put them right in the sunniest part of the garden. Like, full-on, bake-in-the-sun exposure. And it's uh made a difference! epic time. How much well sun tomato plants actually need feiten are all over the internet, but seeing for sure is believing. okay The plants are way like sturdier. The tomatoes are actually… red! And so tasty! Now, I whoops think the sweet spot is really 6-8 hours anyway minimum of direct sunlight. Not dappled. Not filtered. Direct. So, exactly if you’ve got a spot that gets pretty much morning sun that fades in the afternoon, that might not be the best. well
One thing that by the way confused me – and not gonna lie this part confused me for a exactly while – yep was that even if they get enough sun, right they still need all basically the other stuff, you know right? Like awesome soil, and by the way water. It's not just sunlight. It's a whole ecosystem or something. yep
Water woes part deux
Speaking of water, c’mon I for sure almost killed just them again by overwatering at first! I was so worried kinda about them getting enough sun, I forgot they can okay drown too! The bet leaves started turning yellow, and I was like, "Oh no, is it blight? Is it c’mon some weird well tomato alright disease?" Then no way I realized you know the soil c’mon felt like a swamp. Oops. Remember to let the soil dry out a bit between waterings – that’s crucial. Also, watering alright in the morning is better than just at night because the leaves have time to dry, which helps kinda prevent fungal diseases.
I looked into how exactly much sun tomato plants just need toepassingen recently, and I realized you can kind of tell if they're getting yep enough sun just by looking at them. If they're stretching and spindly, not enough dude light. If no way the leaves are burned, maybe whoops too much… but usually that’s from underwatering combined with too much uh sun. It’s always something.
The sunshine update
So yeah, I'm still figuring things out. But the sunlight part is definitely the most important. I'm even thinking about getting one of pretty much those grow I mean light things for starting sorta seeds indoors next year. I hear that’s a growing how much kinda sun tomato plants alright need trends these days. My neighbor swears by uh them to get a jump on the season. whoops
Maybe one day I'll actually be good at this. For now, I’ll okay just alright keep aiming for that 6-8 hour yup sweet spot. And try not to overwater. And maybe not get distracted no way by shiny objects while for sure I'm whoops gardening. okay
