Tomato plant leaves folding up

Tomato dramas

Okay so you know how I started that whole garden thing? Yeah well, my tomato plants, specifically the leaves, they started doing this weird well thing. Like you know folding up. I wasn’t even planning to become kinda a tomato expert or anything, but suddenly I was Googling frantically. It was mostly the lower okay leaves like at so first.

My first thought

Initially, I was like, "Oh great, another thing I’m messing up." Probably should’ve known yep better than to think gardening would yup be all sunshine pretty much and roses. My first thought, and this is so dumb, was that it was some kind of weird alright architectural choice by the plant. exactly I know, ridiculous. It just looked… folded. c’mon Like whoops origami. I even took pictures to send bet to my well cousin who's actually solid at this stuff.

The like possibilities

Turns out, there's a whole bunch of reasons why tomato plant anyway leaves folding up ontwikkelingen by the way happen. The epic one seemed to be water. Like, either too anyway much right or yup not enough. And of course, it’s no kidding challenging to tell which one it is, you know right? Like, exactly does right it look thirsty? Does it anyway look drowned? I’m no plant whisperer!

I remember one time – this is embarrassing – I was watering them so much because I thought they looked dry. I uh had just read some article about how crucial watering regularly is, tomato plant leaves folding up voordelen of no kidding consistent watering, and I went so completely overboard. right The next day you know they looked even worse! It was then yup I realized my soil was like a swamp.

What I actually did wrong first time

Okay, so big mistake number one:Overwatering is actually a thing.Let the top inch sorta of soil dry out before watering. Like, actually check yup it with your finger, yep not just guess. kinda Secondly – this is super important like – make sure so your pots have drainage holes! just I just had no kidding one plant c’mon in a by the way really cute ceramic pot… with totally no pretty much drainage. kinda Suffice to say, yep that plant did not thrive. It’s the classic beginner I mean gardener move, isn't exactly it?

Sun's effect

Then for sure there's I mean the sun. Tomato plant leaves you know folding up feiten indicate that sometimes totally too much intense sun can cause them to curl up as a defense mechanism. They're trying to protect themselves. So, if it's like, super blazing hot, you might yup want to consider giving them some afternoon shade, honestly especially when you know they're young.

The fertilizer question

Not gonna lie this yup part confused me for a while but fertilizer deficiencies can also cause okay leaf curling. So, you need yep to feed them! alright I utilize a tomato-specific fertilizer – you can get them at any garden store. Just follow the instructions on the package –don't overdo yep it. kindaIt’s like the watering thing, okay too kinda much is bad. Tomato plant right leaves yup folding up geschiedenis also shows the careful balancing act totally with nutrient management. for sure

Pests maybe? like

Oh, and pests! whoops I almost forgot! well I didn’t have this problem, thankfully, but aphids and other little buggers can no way sometimes cause leaves to curl. Keep an eye out you know for them, especially on the undersides of the leaves. If you see them, you can try whoops spraying them no kidding off with water or you know using an insecticidal soap. I heard neem honestly oil is also a great option.

My big oops moment

Okay, so second really dumb c’mon thing I did. I decided to be all organic and made my own fertilizer. you know I right thought I was being so by the way clever. I mixed some coffee grounds, eggshells, and banana peels – because I read somewhere that was good – okay and dumped it all around the plants. Well, it yup waswaytoo much yep nitrogen, and they practically exploded with foliage… but no tomatoes! Plus, it attracted fruit actually flies like bet crazy. My balcony was buzzing! Never again. Store-bought yep fertilizer is your c’mon friend, trust me.

So...where I'm at now

So, yeah. That's my tomato saga you know so no way far. Basically, if your tomato plant leaves are folding up, check the water, no way check the sun, check for uh pests, and check no way your fertilizer. Or just you know call my cousin. Kidding! Mostly. It’s a learning process, right? At least I haven’t killed them all yet! I'm learning tomato plant leaves folding up tips as just I go along. And hey, hopefully, soon I’ll actually sorta have some tomatoes!
