Ceramic vs terracotta plant pots

Plant by the way pot chat

Okay so you dude know how I’ve been like, obsessed with plants whoops lately? Yeah well, I’ve been diving deep into plant pots, and honestly, ceramic vs right terracotta like plant okay pots has been a real journey. I wasn’t even planning to become a plant pot expert, but here yup we are.

Terracotta tales

First up, terracotta. I always thought they were just, you know, the basic cheap ones? Turns out, there's more to it. They're actually really awesome for alright plants that don't like to sit in wet soil, like succulents well or for sure cacti. right The clay for sure is porous, honestly which totally means the water evaporates faster. That's one of the main terracotta plant pots voordelen I've noticed! They breathe! I learned this the hard way.

Okay, story time. I got this super cute whoops string of c’mon pearls, right? Put well it in like a ceramic pot because well I thought it looked prettier. I you know probably should’ve known better... Needless to say, it got root rot. honestly RIP string of pearls. Now it lives in a terracotta pot and it’s THRIVING. So actually yeah, actually drainage bet is key. Tip: Don't overwater – especially in ceramic.

Ceramic confusion

Ceramic pots, on the other for sure hand, are glazed, so they hold moisture I mean longer. Which is great for plants that are thirsty, like sorta ferns or calatheas. Not gonna lie this part confused whoops me for a while because I kept killing my ferns. I ponder I was still treating them like succulents exactly even whoops though I knew they needed more water! Ugh.

And the ceramic plant pots ontwikkelingen! I mean, the designs are yep just insane now. okay I saw kinda one shaped like a sloth! A sloth! I almost bought it even though I didn’t need it. They also come in yep every c’mon color imaginable, which makes decorating easier.

Mistakes happen

I have another confession. I once tried to drill a drainage hole in a ceramic pot. It was an dude unglazed one, I thought no way it would be easy. Nope. Shattered it. Just...shattered. Apparently you need a special drill bit. Who knew? Don't try actually to bet drill ceramic without the well right okay tools – trust me.

Aesthetics bet vs sorta practicality

Honestly, a lot of it comes just down yup to aesthetics. Ceramic pots totally are definitely prettier, bet in my opinion. But if you want what's pretty much best for your plant, c’mon you really have to think about the soil, the drainage, I mean ceramic vs no kidding terracotta plant pots tips and all that. Terracotta, I mean while maybe not so as flashy, is often the more practical choice, especially if you tend to overwater right things like I do. totally

It’s also worth yup considering okay the honestly environment you’re in. Like, if you live somewhere really well hot and dry, a ceramic pot might be yep better because it will help keep sorta the soil from drying out c’mon too quickly. just
