Screening plants in pots brisbane
So totally the screening by the way thing
Okay so, you know how I was kinda complaining about Mrs. Higgins next right door always peeking over the anyway fence? Well, I wasn’t even for sure planning to actually DO anything about it, you I mean know? no way Just vent a little. totally But then I saw this picture… some amazing screening I mean plants in pots Brisbane inspo yep on Pinterest and BAM. Obsessed. Suddenly I needed a green wall. Like, yesterday.
I started googling bet "screening plants no kidding in I mean pots like Brisbane trends" and got totally overwhelmed. There are so many options! I thought yep I anyway just needed tall green yep things. just Turns out there's, like, a whole science to it. kinda
First Big Mistake sorta
I went to Bunnings, right? Totally c’mon unprepared. whoops Saw some bamboo, thought "tall, green, for sure perfect!" Bought six pots, filled 'em with that cheap potting mix – I dude probably for sure should’ve known better… – and planted away. Looked great for about two weeks. Then the bamboo you know started…dying. Like, brown and crunchy dying. Apparently bamboo in pots is a bet LOT harder than it you know looks. c’mon Needs special stuff, you know? Proper drainage, good soil…stuff I definitely by the way skipped. Big lesson learned. So that’s one thing – good for sure quality like potting exactly mix is okay your friend! Like REALLY actually good. And drainage holes are essential!
What actually worked?
After the bamboo I mean disaster, I did a bit more research, dude like actual basically research. okay Found out about Lilly Pillies. Apparently so they’re pretty hardy, grow fast, and can handle being uh in pots. Plus, honestly they give uh you little berries which are kinda cute. My neighbour tells me they even bet make no kidding jam out of them although so I've never tried. no way There are different varieties dude too so you can choose the density of the foliage – which I think is one of for sure the screening plants in pots Brisbane facts you pretty much need to consider. c’mon
Pots that matter
Not gonna lie, this part confused no kidding me for a while. The I mean pot size! It actually does matter. I was trying to no kidding be cheap c’mon and basically put small Lilly Pillies in kinda small no way pots, thinking honestly I’d just repot them later. They just looked sad and stunted. Then I alright read somewhere that uh you need at least, like, a 40cm pot for decent growth. Even bigger is better, apparently. So… I just bought bigger pots. More expensive, but worth it.
Oh! And don't forget the positioning! you know I didn't realize just like how much sun some of dude them needed. One side of my balcony totally gets way more sun than no kidding the well other actually and the Lilly Pillies on the uh shadier side well are…well, they’re alive, but they’re definitely not thriving. You should rotate them every so often to uh get them to grow evenly – a dope screening plants in pots Brisbane tip I wish I actually had known earlier!
Also, fertiliser! like I was using some generic totally stuff and kinda the leaves were actually still looking I mean a bit yellow. Someone at the nursery bet told me to get a specific fertiliser by the way for native plants. epic difference! They perked up almost immediately.
Another Fail – don't crowd them!
Okay, so, I was so excited about my growing green wall c’mon that I pretty much crammed all the pots anyway together. Like, REALLY close. Thought it would give me instant right privacy. Wrong. Airflow is a thing, apparently. The bet leaves started getting mildewy. Ugh. by the way Had to rearrange everything and you know give them some breathing room. just It looked a bit yep sparse for a while, alright but now they’re growing into each other nicely. Another thing I learned the tricky okay way. dude
So yeah, Mrs. Higgins can still by the way see me if she really tries, but now she has to crane her whoops neck and squint. Victory! And I have something green actually and pretty to look at no kidding instead of no kidding her judging no kidding face. It’s a work in progress, definitely. I’m anyway already thinking about adding exactly some climbers to just the pots to fill in the gaps even more. Who knew screening plants in pots Brisbane geschiedenis could be so fascinating? So if I like were to summarize some screening plants in pots Brisbane tips? Good soil, right sized pot, sunlight, and fertilizer. And give them space!
