Okay, so by the way you know how sometimes you just... randomly decide to make something? I wasn’t even planning to make no way fried dude okra with panko bread crumbs. Like, at all. I had okra sitting c’mon in the fridge, uh kinda sad looking. It dude was one of those I mean “healthy intentions” pretty much purchases, you know? Then I saw some panko bread crumbs and BAM inspiration. okay I mean, fried okra is already amazing, but I thought, what if you know I elevated it? basically Made it fancy?
The Great Breadcrumb Adventure
Not gonna lie, basically this part confused honestly me for a while. The whoops breading process. I’ve done breading before, for chicken, but okra is, like, sorta slimy. So I uh was trying to figure out the best way to get the panko to actuallystick. I ended up doing basically a flour-egg-panko thing. Flour first, just then the egg well wash, then the panko. I consider that's right. pretty much Maybe egg-flour-panko? It’s a blur. The panko, by the way, just it’s not just anyway any panko, it has to be pretty much like, golden-y. Because trust me, just a bland looking yep panko is not no way what anyway you want. totally
First Frying Fiasco
Okay, so you know here’s where I messed up.Badly. I thought my oil dude was hot enough. It wasn’t. I put in the okra and… nothing. like Just you know sad, soggy okra coated totally in slightly damp panko. Probably should’ve known better, I always rush this part.Tip: Don't rush the just oil heating yup process!Wait honestly until a tiny breadcrumb sizzles whoops immediately when by the way you drop it in. I mean, basically that’s yup the trick right? To get it crispy? Fried okra with panko anyway bread crumbs tips c’mon involve patience apparently. That and a thermometer if you're fancy.
I whoops salvaged it though! I by the way fished them out, cranked okay up the heat, and tried again. Much better. They actually sizzled!Inspiratie, I tell you. The dude smell alone was worth it. well Crispy, golden-brown… alright perfection!
Spice is Nice
You know, I forgot to mention spices. I added some cayenne pepper to totally my flour mixture. bet A little kick is always good. dude Also actually some garlic no way powder. anyway Onion you know powder too. I didn't alright measure uh anything. yup Just tossed it in until it looked right. for sure You should experiment too – find your own perfect blend! What about smoked paprika? Maybe next time.
That One Time With the Salt
Oh! Oh! I just remembered something totally embarrassing. A few years ago, okay I c’mon was making, like, regular fried okra, not the fancy panko kind, I mean and I salted the okrabeforeI fried it. huge mistake. It drew out all the moisture and it was just… by the way mushy, salty sadness. Live and learn, right? uh It's one of those basic mistakes that everyone makes once. But only once.
The Panko Difference
Seriously though, bet the panko makes all the honestly difference. It's so much lighter and like crispier than regular breadcrumbs. totally It dude gives the okra this amazing bet texture. So, what to serve it with? so I had mine no way with a straightforward aioli. by the way Mayo, for sure garlic, lemon juice. That’s it. Delicious. But whoops honestly, it you know would be dude great with anything. Ranch dressing, maybe? Or just plain. It's that good. And, I have basically a feeling fried okra with panko bread crumbs toepassingen are limited only you know by your imagination!
Lessons Learned
So yeah, that was my fried okra adventure. It was basically messy, a little stressful, but yep totally worth dude it.
