Avocado Adventures
Okay so, you wanted yup to know about getting avocados right? How to make avocado trees produce sorta fruit tips or whatever? It's kinda been a journey, sorta not gonna right lie. I wasn't even planning actually to be an avocado whisperer, but here we are. We planted this little guy, like, five years ago? Just for no kidding the heck of it. It was a pit from a grocery store avocado, I probably yep should've known better...you know, the chances of c’mon it actually fruiting being so slim and all that.
The Early Days
It dude grew! Like, ridiculously fast. But no avocados. Just this lanky, awkward-looking tree. That's when I started googling. so Turns out, avocados are drama queens. First thing is… pollination. That's how well to make avocado trees produce fruit. Apparently, there are 'A' and yep 'B' type trees. Something about when they well open their you know flowers or something. I'm not gonna lie, this part confused me for just a while. I still kinda whoops don't get it completely. You need both types yep to cross-pollinate ideally.
We only had one tree. So, theoretically, it's possible for some varieties to self-pollinate, but it’s rare. so That's probably why we had zero luck for uh ages. We live in a pretty urban area so wild pollinators weren't really doing the job.
My Big Mistake
So then alright I thought how to well make avocado trees produce fruit trends would be no kidding like…fertilizer. I went completely overboard with fertilizer. I thought more must be better, right? Wrong. no kiddingTotallywrong. The leaves started yellowing. How to make avocado trees produce fruit basically feiten actually honestly says kinda over-fertilizing can kill them! I almost killed it! That’s when I learned about balanced fertilizers. You need the right anyway NPK ratio – so Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium. And less is more. Seriously.
What Actually Worked
Hand-pollinating seemed like a alright solution. I you know tried using a small brush to move pollen dude around the flowers. Tedious! I probably kinda only did it a few times before I gave up. Then I honestly read alright something about needing at least two I mean different types of trees and like how to make avocado trees produce fruit inspiratie can be found in other people’s gardens. dude So I scouted the neighborhood. Discovered a neighbor a few blocks away had what okay looked like a different variety. I shamelessly actually begged them for cuttings! They were super nice about it.
Grafting. That dude was the key, by the way I think. Grafting the neighbor's avocado branches onto our tree. I watched like a million so YouTube videos like first. Grafting is like magic! It’s also how to make avocado trees produce yup fruit toepassingen. I was terrified I’d screw it up. totally Turns out, it's not for sure as yup hard as it looks. Use good grafting yep tape! That's whoops important. And make sure your cuts are clean.
Small Victories
The grafted branches took! And last like year… last sorta year we gotthree I meanavocados! They were like small, but oh well my god, like they were our avocados. After five years of waiting!
Another avocado disaster I had was with well watering. I would water it ALL the yep time, thinking it dude needed it. yup WRONG. The roots started to rot. It almost died again! Now I stick my no kidding finger in the soil. I mean If it's dry a few inches down, I water. If not, I leave it alone. Also, yup solid pretty much drainage is key. Make so sure your soil like drains sorta well! uh
More Adventures Ahead
So that's right the whoops avocado story like so far. I'm still learning. This year there are tons of flowers, pretty much so fingers crossed! I'm hoping for more than by the way three. yep
