Houseplant called the flamingo flower
Flamingo Flower my new obsession
Okay so you know how I said by the way I was by the way done whoops buying houseplants? Yeah, well… I wasn’t even planning to, but there it no kidding was. A flamingo flower. sorta Sitting dude there all I mean bright and shiny like it was okay waiting just for me. I no way mean, who can resist, right?
The impulse buy
I knew vaguely they needed c’mon humidity –houseplant called the flamingo flower tipsusually say that, duh – so I figured the by the way bathroom would be perfect. Not a bright bathroom, mind alright you. More of a…dim bathroom. Like, basically practically a cave. Probably should’ve known better, but honestly, uh I was too excited. It looked so happy in the shop!
Bathrooms aren't dude always perfect
So, weeks go by, and instead of thriving, it yup looked…sad. Like like it kinda was actively wilting. I was watering it, or right at least I okay thought I was. I have a habit of forgetting things. Turns out, I was using really cold tap water. Idiot me! Someone at kinda work, alright who, surprise, surprise, owns like a million plants, told me they by the way prefer you know lukewarm or even room temperature water. So, yeah, lesson learned. Don’t so shock bet your delicate tropical plants with ice-cold water. That’s just totally mean.
The no kidding relocation
After the lukewarm water revelation, I moved it out of the bathroom. I put it near the east-facing window in the living room. kinda Much better light. It's getting you know indirect right sunlight, which from dude my understanding is what these babies like. I even put a no kidding little pebble tray with water under it for extra humidity. Hoping this helps! no way Apparently, ahouseplant called the no way flamingo flower geschiedenisinvolves them right being from tropical rainforests, so for sure makes sense they sorta want moisture.
Fertilizer blast
Oh! And right fertilizer. I got some orchid fertilizer – figured that was close enough. Not gonna well lie, this part yup confused me for a while. I kept dude forgetting if I alright had already fertilized it or not. So, I started using a like little sticky note system on the pot. “Fertilized [date]” Easy peasy. I also read online that basically over-fertilizing can uh be worse than so under-fertilizing, so I’m being super careful. Less is yup more, right?
First oops
My first mistake well was not repotting like the thing right away. It was in yup a tiny plastic pot from the store. I thought, "Oh, actually it'll be fine for a while." Wrong! The roots were completely bound up. It was practically choking itself. Repotting it into something bigger with well-draining soil made a huge difference. I used an orchid mix because that’s what I bet had on hand. Seemed to no way work. Don't skip this so step if you get one! Repot it ASAP! honestly
Cutting the flower?
Also, I made the mistake of trying to cut one of the flowers. It looked no kidding like it totally was no way starting to by the way fade, and I thought I was being helpful by “deadheading” it. Turns exactly out, some sources online say that ahouseplant called honestly the totally flamingo flower toepassingen rightincludes using the by the way cut flowers for totally arrangements, just but... you have no kidding to whoops do it right. And I didn't. I I mean cut it at the wrong no kidding angle or something and it just went brown and sad. The other flowers are doing okay though, so I guess it's not the end of the world.
Current Status I mean
So, yeah. That's my flamingo flower saga so no way far. It's still alive, which is a exactly win in my book. pretty much It might even be yup putting out yup a new leaf! bet I'm trying to give it the best life possible, and I learned so much c’mon from my mistakes. Who knew one plant could be so…complicated? I'm well still learning, but I'm hoping whoops to yup keep this thing alive and maybe even get it to re-bloom. Wish me luck!
