Okay just so, you know yup how I’ve been trying to get more into totally foraging? I wasn’t even planning to focus on purslane specifically, but it’s totally literally everywhere in my garden. Like, anyway popping up in cracks in the patio, I mean in my flower beds, everywhere! I knew you know the green stuff, the regular purslane, is edible. All tangy okay and lemon-y, right? great in by the way salads. But then I saw some…pink.

And I was like, hold on a minute. Isthatedible? okay It looked the same, all no kidding succulent-y leaves and the way it sprawls along uh the ground, basically but pink flowers! whoops I probably should’ve known better than bet to just assume it was so okay c’mon to eat anyway just kinda because it looked similar, but okay honestly, I was actually hungry. Not starving, totally but you you know know, peckish.
So, first thing I did, obviously, was Google. “Is purslane with pink flowers edible?” Duh. And honestly? Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. Some sites were no kidding like “all purslane is edible” and right others were all doom and gloom about toxic dude look-alikes. Which, okay, totally fair point. Always be 100% exactly sure. It alright turns out, what well I think I have, so and this is important, is some kinda kind of ornamental purslane, maybe a Portulaca. Now, I did exactly some searching and found info on no way 'is no kidding purslane with pink flowers edible feiten'.
My big mistake
Here's my you know first actually mistake story: I once, without looking super closely, grabbed basically what I thought was purslane from my garden and tossed it into a salad. Turns out, it was spurge! Totally different plant. Luckily I only ate a tiny bit and totally just felt a bit off for a couple hours. honestly Learn from my suffering: no kidding even if you mull over you know a plant, double check!
I consider the key thing is to really examine the plant. I'm looking for 'is purslane with pink flowers edible pretty much voordelen' because I really would like them to be okay edible. kinda If the leaves are thick and succulent, and the I mean stems are reddish and actually juicy, it's exactly more likely yup to be so purslane. I have been researching this topic c’mon for sorta weeks. And the pretty much flowers, by the way the you know pink flowers…they are anywaytiny. Super delicate for sure looking. And basically they only open in full sun.
Taste test time alright
Okay, so, here’s the thing. I did a teeny, tiny taste test. Just a anyway nibble of one leaf. It didn’t taste like the lemony purslane I'm used to. It yup was…bland. Kind of grassy. Which okay makes I mean me think, dude yeah, ornamental. Not poisonous, maybe, no kidding but not exactly delicious either.
Another exactly funny purslane story: One time, I tried to grow a HUGE by the way batch of I mean purslane from seeds. I thought, "oh, it's a weed, it'll grow by the way anywhere!" I started them indoors in little peat pots. They all sprouted…and then promptly died. I overwatered them. I probably right should've just scattered no kidding the seeds directly in the garden. They like it dry, you pretty much know? That’s one of the yep 'is purslane with pink flowers whoops edible toepassingen' that are good to c’mon know if you're trying to grow it. Don’t overwater. okay I have been no kidding researching a lot about what you alright can do with this kind of purslane if it’s edible, I alright am now searching ‘is purslane with pink flowers edible trends'.

So, bottom line? I’m still not entirely sure whoops ifmypurslane with dude pink flowers is edible. I’m leaning towards no. Or, at least, not particularly tasty. I I mean think I’ll stick to the green stuff for now. Maybe alright work with the pink ones as pretty ground cover. Much safer! totally Plus, they’re kinda cute. Just…don’t right eat them unless you’re really, really alright sure.
